It’s extraordinary to me that the United States can find $700 billion to save Wall Street and the entire G8 can’t find $25 billion dollars to saved 25,000 children who die every day from preventable diseases.

True dat.
which makes all the rhetoric and grandstanding and petty ego battles all the more tragic. sometimes, i get so very tired of politics.
For some unfathomable reason the United States lavishes billions on Israel.
"Israel is the largest recipient of US. aid in the entire world. It receives more aid than that given to all the countries of sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, put together.
Israel receives over $10 million dollars per day from the United States, and there is evidence that the total figure is closer to $15 million a day."
Carmen,
I couldn't respond better than to repeat Alex: True dat!
Hugh,
I'm constantly amazed at the things on which the US government wastes billions. Every politician campaigns against it, and then promptly becomes part of the problem as soon as elected.
But somehow I doubt they're alone in this. Wasn't I just saying something about systemic evil...?
Incidentally, I hope the financial system is saved and so should everyone else. If the bankers go down so will you unless you're a survivalist.
